Nominations for this year’s Mayor of Neath Port Talbot Citizen Awards, which recognise unsung heroes from across NPT who make a real difference to our communities, close at midday on Wednesday, March 19th, 2025.

Kindly supported by Trade Centre Wales and Tata Steel UK, the eagerly awaited event takes place at The Orangery, Margam Country Park, on Friday April 4th, 2025.

Tata Steel UK Public Affairs and Community Manager, Lewis Clark, said: “Tata Steel UK is thrilled to once again be a main sponsor of the Mayor of Neath Port Talbot Citizen Awards, which are a           chance to shine a spotlight on the very best of our local community.

“As Tata Steel UK undergoes its biggest transformation in decades – through the £1.25bn investment in an electric arc furnace at Port Talbot – we remain absolutely committed to the local area and the company is honoured once again to help recognise the remarkable achievements of individuals and organisations from across Neath Port Talbot.”

The Chairman and Founder of Trade Centre Wales, Mark Bailey, added: “Since opening our very first car supermarket in Neath Abbey back in 2001, Trade Centre Wales has truly become part of the local community by continuing to support local good causes and youth sport.

“We are delighted once again to support the Mayor’s Citizen Awards and lend our help in recognising and rewarding inspirational people whose selfless efforts make a massive difference to our communities.”

The Mayor of Neath Port Talbot, Cllr Matthew Crowley, said: “As there just a a few days left to nominate I would urge everyone who knows of someone in their community who is deserving of one of these awards to let us know by nominating them – there are so many good people out there whose work often goes unnoticed so please take this chance to give them the recognition they richly deserve.”

    Young Carer Award
There are many young people in our area that play a crucial role in the everyday lives of their families by carrying out caring duties. For them it might seem normal to tend to a parent or sibling every morning before getting themselves off to school or college. For them the constant concern and sense of duty is always there. This award will highlight the work of young carers who often seem invisible in our communities.
