A North Wales-based security firm is going from strength to strength following a series of contract wins and the acquisition of another business.
Parallel Security has landed a major contract providing a range of security services and solutions to a National Grid scheme in Snowdonia that will see the removal of a section of overhead line and its replacement with electricity cables buried in a tunnel underground.
The contract, which started this month, has led to the recruitment of an additional 12 staff, taking the total Parallel Security headcount to over 50. The company has further hired a sales director and an additional accounts manager.
Another major development has been the addition of a sister company, GP Fire & Security, which it has acquired and relocated to Parallel’s head office site on Mold Business Park. The company was previously based in Mold and continues to provide a full range of fire, access control, intruder and CCTV systems.
Francis Johnson, Parallel’s Managing Director, said: “We are delighted to have won the prestigious contract to provide a range of security services and solutions to contractor Hochtief and National Grid in North Wales.
“It is the latest of several corporate clients that Parallel has won in recent months and we are now providing services across North Wales, North West England and the Midlands.
“The demand for our key holding and response, patrols and manned guarding services are all increasing, making us one of the largest patrol and response companies in North Wales, North West and the wider area.
“The acquisition of GP Fire & Security as a sister business is a great fit, enabling us to provide customers with both physical security and electronic systems solutions.”
Mel Pengelly, Commercial Director of Parallel and GP Fire & Security, said: “We have already doubled the size of GP Fire & Security since the acquisition earlier in 2023 through developing new customers and providing added value services to existing clients from both businesses.
“Security systems have come a long way and the solutions we are now offering and installing for clients are highly sophisticated, some of them using the latest artificial intelligence and thermal imaging.
“The growth of the two companies means we expect to create up to another five jobs between now and the end of this year.”
Parallel Security was established in 2014 and holds the Security Industry Authority’s prestigious Approved Contractor Status (SIA ACS), accrediting it to provide manned guarding, key holding and door supervision. Parallel is also a Highfield accredited training centre. GP Fire & Security also holds the highest accreditation of its kind for the Installation, Maintenance and Servicing of Intruder, Access Control and CCTV systems via the SSAIB (UKAS certification body within the security industry).
The company’s success has been recognised by Business Wales which includes Parallel Security on its Accelerated Growth Programme.
Last year, Parallel acquired Oakwood Security Solutions in the Midlands, giving it a second office in Coventry.
