If there was ever any doubt that Pitbull knows how to throw a party, Cardiff got its answer on Saturday night.
American superstar Pitbull sensationally brought the curtain down on Blackweir 2026, transforming Blackweir Fields into one huge nightclub as 35,000 fans danced, sang and shouted every lyric back to Mr Worldwide.
For one night only, Miami came to the Welsh capital.

Long before Pitbull even stepped on stage, Cardiff had fully embraced the occasion. Bald caps, crisp white shirts and black ties were everywhere you looked as thousands of fans recreated the rapper’s iconic look, taking over the city centre in scenes that have rarely, if ever, been seen before.

Earlier in the day, St David’s 2 had already got the party started with a Pitbull-themed flash mob near Sephora, while a lookalike had also been appearing around the city in the build up to the concert.

Then came the main event.

Walking onto the stage to the sounds of Welcome to the Jungle, with a teasing snippet of Sweet Child O’ Mine thrown in for good measure, Pitbull immediately had the crowd in the palm of his hand.
Before launching into the night’s celebrations, he made sure to thank his Welsh audience.

He said: “It’s an honour and a blessing to be here tonight. We appreciate the love here in Cardiff.
“They told me backstage that to say thank you here in Wales I need to say ‘Diolch’, so Diolch very much, I appreciate it. Now, we all know what we came here to do tonight – it’s simple – we came here to PARTY!!”
And party they certainly did.

For the next 90 minutes, there was barely a moment to catch your breath as Pitbull fired through hit after hit. Timber, Don’t Stop The Party, Hotel Room Service, Damn I Love Miami, Gasolina, International Love and the explosive Fireball all featured in a set that simply refused to slow down.
It was one of those concerts where every song felt like another headline act.
Rain Over Me, I Feel Good, There It Is, Culo, I Know You Want Me and We Are One kept the momentum going, while the giant screen animations featuring Pitbull and Lil Jon elevated the production to another level.
The atmosphere was electric from start to finish.

Pitbull’s official dance troupe, The Most Bad Ones (TMBO), also deserve enormous credit. The six dancers barely stopped moving throughout the night, bringing energy, attitude and precision to every performance. Shanice Fernandez, alongside the rest of the group, repeatedly left the crowd in awe with their choreography.
If anyone wondered whether there was another major concert happening just down the road at Cardiff Castle, you certainly wouldn’t have known it once Pitbull got going.
The support acts ensured the crowd had been warmed up long before the headline performance.
Opening the evening was rapper and MC Fuse ODG. Despite a few early microphone issues, which were quickly resolved, he soon had thousands of people swaying, dancing and singing along with Thinking About U, Million Pound Girl, Light It Up, Antenna and Dangerous Love.

GRAMMY Award-winning rapper and producer Lil Jon then took things up another level.
Making his first appearance in Cardiff, Lil Jon delivered a high-energy set featuring Shots, Anaconda, Krazy and Outta Your Mind, while telling the audience he had heard just how much Cardiff loves a party.
The performance also carried an emotional moment as he paid tribute to his son Nathan Smith, known professionally as DJ Young Slade, who tragically passed away earlier this year. Lil Jon told fans that being on stage and receiving such a warm reaction had become his therapy, admitting it had taken a great deal for him to perform.
Later in the evening, Pitbull invited Lil Jon back onto the stage, thanking him for giving him his break around 25 years ago and acknowledging that he owed much of his career to that opportunity.
Together they unleashed Get Low, Yeah! and Turn Down for What, sending the Blackweir crowd into one final frenzy.
The audience played its part throughout. From the sea of bald caps to the endless dancing and singing, Cardiff embraced every minute of the night and helped create one of the most memorable atmospheres of the summer.
The event itself was another reminder of the sheer scale of Blackweir. Once again, the site felt like a temporary city built in the middle of a field, an impressive feat considering the logistics involved in staging concerts of this size.
The only noticeable issue came later in the evening in the Garden premium enclosure, where long queues for the toilets left some female concertgoers resorting to cups or finding secluded spots near the bar. It was the first time such problems had been noticeable across the Blackweir series.
Even so, it did little to dampen the overall experience.
Pitbull promised Cardiff a party, and he delivered exactly that. From the first song to the last, it was a non-stop celebration packed with huge hits, spectacular production and an audience determined to enjoy every second.
It also brought a fitting conclusion to an outstanding summer of live music at Blackweir Fields.
More than 160,000 music fans attended Blackweir 2026 across headline performances from The Cure, Teddy Swims, two sold out nights with Lewis Capaldi and Pitbull, with Mr Worldwide ensuring the festival bowed out in unforgettable style.
