The 22-year-old man who died following an incident in woodland adjacent to Trelai Park in Ely has been named as Mark Anderson, from Caerau in Cardiff.

Mark’s mother and father Sonia and James, along with his brother and sisters, Cain, Jodie and Chloe, have issued the following statement:

“Mark went to Glynderw High School in Ely and enjoyed his hobbies of fishing, rugby, football and motorcycling as well as playing on his Xbox.

“He was very well known in the area with an amazing group of friends who are always there for each other. He was the best person you could ever meet and the neighbourhood has been devastated by his death.

“Mark had a loving relationship with his family and always got on well with everyone.

“Cain and Mark grew up together and were great friends and had a brilliant relationship.”

Mark’s sisters said: “If we had any issues or problems we could always go to Mark for support.”

Mark’s parents added: “As a family we are heartbroken and now need time to come to terms with our loss.”

South Wales Police is continuing to investigate the unexplained death of Mark Anderson and is appealing to anyone with any information concerning this matter to contact them.

Emergency services were called to the woodlands next to Trelai Park at around 4pm on Monday, May 27, and detectives want to hear from anyone who may have been in the area around that time and who may have seen anything which will help them establish the circumstances surrounding this incident.

Anybody who has information they think is relevant should contact South Wales Police via 101 immediately, giving reference 1900190981. Alternatively, they can contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
