Do you like playing card games? The UK is home to some of the best card games in the world. Whether you’re looking for a game that will challenge your mind or one that everyone can play, there’s an online card game out there for you.

Card games are great because they don’t require any special equipment. You only need a deck of cards and players. If you’re looking for a fun time and want to play with people from all over the world, this article is what you need!

    The Best Online Card Games

Here is a list of the top five best online card games played in the UK:

    • Poker
    • Blackjack
    • Baccarat
    • Roulette
    • Red Dog
    1. Freecell

Freecell is a solitaire card game played with a standard 52-card deck. The goal is to move all 52 cards to four foundation piles, one per suit, in ascending order from Ace to King.

The game begins with eight tableau piles, cards can be moved within the tableau and foundation piles according to specific rules: only the top card of each tableau pile can be moved, and cards must be placed on the foundation piles in order. Empty tableau spaces can hold any card.

Skillful planning and strategic moves are essential to successfully organize the tableau, free up space, and ultimately win the game. The popular card game has only grown since its arrival on several online gaming sites such as Solitaired.

    1. Hearts

Hearts is a trick-taking card game typically played with four players and a standard 52-card deck. The objective is to avoid acquiring certain cards, specifically the Hearts suit and the Queen of Spades, as they carry penalty points. Players aim to win tricks that contain low-ranking cards while strategically passing undesirable cards to opponents at the beginning of each round.

The player with the fewest penalty points when someone reaches a predetermined point threshold (typically 100) or target wins. Hearts is available to play online on various gaming platforms such as Hearts Land, which features the classic game along with other Hearts variants like British Hearts.

    1. Spades

Spades is typically played by four players in partnerships, where the objective is to accurately predict and fulfill the number of tricks (rounds of card play) your team will win, based on the combined strength of your cards and your partner’s bids.

A standard 52-card deck is used, and spades are always the trump suit. Each player in turn bids the number of tricks their team will take, with the total bids being equal to the total number of tricks available.

Players must follow suit if possible, but playing a spade trumps all other suits. The team that successfully fulfills their bid earns points, while failing to do so incurs penalties. Spades can be enjoyed online through various digital platforms such as Spades.co that offers the classic card game in single player mode and a variety of other unique settings such as playable in offline mode.

    1. Cribbage

Cribbage is a two-player card game played with a standard 52-card deck, renowned for its combination of card play and a unique scoring board called the cribbage board. The objective is to be the first to reach a set number of points (usually 121) by forming various card combinations, including pairs, runs, and sums of 15, while taking turns to play and discard cards into a communal pile, known as the “crib.”

Players also use a pegging system on the cribbage board to track their score during each hand, which consists of pegging points for card combinations and reaching certain landmarks on the board. Cribbage is available to play online through various gaming platforms such as Cribbage Online, where players can enjoy the game in single player mode, and choose through a variety of difficulty settings.

    1. Solitaire

Solitaire is a classic single-player card game that involves arranging a standard 52-card deck into foundation piles based on suit and ascending order, from Ace to King. The gameplay consists of moving cards within the tableau and using a draw pile to achieve this goal. Cards in the tableau can be arranged in descending order and must alternate between red and black suits.

Sequences of cards in the same suit can be moved as a group, and empty tableau columns can hold any card, usually starting with a King. Available cards from the draw pile can be played onto the tableau or foundation piles if they match in suit and rank. The game is won by successfully building all four foundation piles up to Kings, following the Ace-to-King sequence. However, if the draw pile is empty and no more moves can be made, the game may be considered lost. Solitaire has various versions that can be enjoyed with a deck at home or online, where custom features such as hint buttons can be used. Solitaire Bliss offers the classic solitaire along with other variants such as klondike and pyramid in a bold, colorful format.
