    Predicted Wellness Trends for 2022

The wellness industry is vast. You only have to look at any wellness statistic to see just how successful it is and how it only looks to expand. Indeed, the health and wellness market size worldwide was estimated at $4.4 trillion in 2019 and is believed to increase to over $6 trillion by 2025. So, with the industry only getting bigger, what are some of the predicted wellness trends set to explode on the scene in 2022? Read on to find out more.

    What is the Wellness Industry?

The Global Wellness Institute defines the wellness economy as industries that enable consumers to incorporate wellness lifestyles and activities into their daily lives. It encompasses 11 varied sectors such as mental wellness, personal care and beauty, spa economy, and preventive & personalised medicine and public health. Wellness businesses must allow consumers to incorporate their wellness-related activities and lifestyles into their everyday lives. Wellness is arguably not, in fact, an industry but instead a consumer health behaviour.

It is no secret that the bustle and stress of modern life have led many people to focus on their wellness and find ways to unwind and destress. Furthermore, with the isolation that accompanied the worldwide pandemic Covid-19, many people started researching ways to incorporate wellness into their lives from the comfort of their homes. Let’s dive straight in and see what trends could occur in 2022.

    Predicted Wellness Trends for 2022

    Mineral Bath Salts

Mineral bath salts are already hugely popular and are highly searched for on the internet. Pinterest explains that there is a 180% increase in searches for “spiritual cleansing baths” and a 145% year-on-year increase in searches for “deep soaking tub”. It looks like many people are now turning to the classic bath as a wellness technique but are making it more of an elevated and self-care experience by adding mineral bath salts. Bath salts are water-soluble, pulverised minerals that are added to bathwater. These salts can incorporate renowned relaxing ingredients, such as lavender or chamomile, to truly elevate your experience. Using mineral bath salts is believed to be destressing, is thought to improve cleaning, and, of course, further your enjoyment of bath time.

    Sleep Tracking Devices

Our sleep health has never been more focused on than right now. Due to our busy, modern society, many people struggle with sleep either because they don’t get enough of it or simply can’t switch off. The rise of sleep technology to help quash this problem has been impressive, and it is only predicted to get bigger. A sleep tracker is a device that captures an array of data such as heart rate, respiration, time awake, time sleeping, sleep interruptions, and body temperature to give you a better understanding and assistance with your sleep health. Wearable trackers also have the ability to link your daily activity levels to the duration and quality of your sleep. With sleep never being more important than now, sleep trackers could well be a distinct feature of 2022.

    Adaptogenic Drinks

Adaptogens have been trending recently, and adaptogenic drinks are lauded as debatably the most delicious way to reap the benefits. Adaptogens are a group of plants argued to help your body adapt to stress and other potential ailments. These include herbs, mushrooms, and roots that can help regulate hormones. Interestingly, these have been used for centuries in both Chinese and Ayurvedic medicine. It is believed that in 2022, getting an adaptogenic drink will be commonplace as its appeal of helping us relax and boosting our mood (without any alcohol involved) will be too tempting to deny. It could even be the next step for energy drinks.

    CBD

CBD, or cannabidiol, is another product that has been increasing over recent years. It is strongly thought to be a massive contender in the 2022 wellness space. CBD is one of 113 chemical compounds found in the Cannabis sativa plant. Unlike tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), its cousin compound, CBD, does not deliver any intoxicating effects to the user. Instead, it is believed to be a beneficial supplement to help you feel more grounded and bring a sense of equilibrium to the consumer.

Nowadays, every CBD manufacturer is trying to come up with the most unconventional product, offering edibles like CBD cookies, various topicals, candles and even infused clothes. This is another product quickly on the rise in popularity with no signs of letting up in the near future.

    Portable Massagers

Partly due to the pandemic and the lack of face-to-face massages available for the last two years, many people are now turning to purchase a personal massage tool to use from their homes. Portable massagers are appealing because they can help relax tight muscles, break up scar tissue, and minimise muscle tension, essentially what you would get from a professional masseuse. Not only this, but they can be handy electronics for preparing you for a workout or to help facilitate recovery after a workout. They can also be used by non-athletes and is, therefore, an appealing product for a diverse range of people.

    Acupressure Mats and Pillows

Our last prediction is acupressure mats and pillows. These are designed to produce similar results to acupressure massage. The mats have hundreds of plastic points that apply pressure to acupressure points in the back. The acupressure pillows are designed for use on the neck, head, hands, or feet. Again, this trend could be due to the lack of face-to-face appointments or perhaps just an increase in people’s desire to exercise wellness from home. Arguably, using acupressure mats for 15 minutes a day is thought to help decrease stress, assist sore muscles and help you get rid of tension.

    Final Thoughts

Making predictions is never easy as it can be so hard to know what will be popular at any given point in the future. When it comes to the wellness industry, this is no exception. However, we can look at existing trends and the current global situation, and it is clear that wellness (especially from home) is hugely popular, and it doesn’t look set to change anytime soon. We have put forward several of our predictions for some of the biggest wellness trends next year in 2022, and while we cannot know for sure what will really take off, we can’t wait to find out.
