Local organisations and charities joined Principality Building Society to celebrate the launch of its newly relocated Swansea branch on Oxford Street.
The branch’s move from Kingsway to a more central part of Swansea reflects Principality’s continued commitment to offering vital cash and in-person services and maintaining its high-street presence until at least the end of 2030.
Principality welcomed local organisations and its charity partners to the Oxford Street launch event, including Swansea Bay Health Board, Team Wales, Future Generation Fund recipients Swansea MAD, and educational support service, 2B Enterprising.
First established in 1860, Principality Building Society has been a community cornerstone with 53 branches and 14 agencies across Wales and its borders, partnering with local charities and organisations in addition to its financial service offerings. Principality opened its first branch location in Swansea in 1934.
Principality colleagues have collectively raised £30,000 for Swansea Bay Health Board’s Cwtch Clos project to support families with infants in neonatal care as a part of its ongoing partnership with the organisation.
Speaking about Swansea’s branch relocation, Vicky Wales, Chief Customer Officer at Principality Building Society , said: “Our Swansea branch has played such a key role in our history and we’re very proud that our colleagues have been able to make such a positive impact on the local community.
We know that a strong branch presence is a priority for our Members, and as Principality celebrates its 165thanniversary this year we will continue investing in our branch network and provide important in-person services.”
The building society has received consistent feedback from Members that a branch presence is important to them. Principality’s own research reveals more than 70% of people agree that branch presence is a key factor in deciding which financial provider to choose. This comes as many banks and financial providers across the country announce branch closures.
