CIPD Wales, the professional body for HR and people development, has launched a new public policy forum.
The forum, the first of its kind in Wales, brings together experts from across the world of work to tackle the challenges and take advantage of the opportunities Wales has in the world of people management and development.
The forum will allow CIPD Wales’ 5000 members to debate and discuss key policy areas such as skills, young people, employee relations, and diversity and inclusion, enabling the profession to influence and advise on policy that will directly affect Welsh employees.
CIPD Wales aims to build on strong relationships with employers and stakeholders to provide a Welsh perspective on critical devolved issues affecting working people in Wales. This will involve immediate opportunities to work closely with Minister for Welsh Language and Lifelong Learning, Baroness Eluned Morgan AM, who attended the Public Policy Forum launch.
Head of CIPD Wales Lesley Richards said:
“There couldn’t be a more important time for the Public Policy Forum to be created, with issues such as Brexit, automation and skills affecting people working in our profession every day and only set to increase. We believe that the combined knowledge, expertise and experience of our members together with CIPD provides a unique contribution to policy development in Wales.”

“Public policy at the CIPD draws on our extensive research and thought leadership, practical advice and guidance, along with the experience and expertise of our diverse membership. The Public Policy Forum will help to inform and shape debate, government policy and legislation for the benefit of employees and employers as well as to improve best practice in the workplace.”
At the launch of the Public Policy Forum business transparency, gender inclusion and supporting disability in the workplace were all discussed as important issues to be tackled in the future of the industry.
