It’s lights, camera, action at Quadrant Shopping Centre this half-term, as it offers Swansea shoppers the chance to get in front of the camera and make their very own short film at its free ‘Movie Makers’ event.

Taking place on Wednesday 30 May until Friday 1 June between 11am and 3pm, movie-making workshops will be running in central square at Quadrant Shopping Centre. Participants will be able to star in their very own mini-production courtesy of a real green screen – just like the ones used on real film sets.

Once created, some film fans will have the chance to see their production premiered on the ‘big screen’ in Swansea’s Castle Square for members of the community to enjoy.

Lisa Hartley, Quadrant Shopping Centre manager, said:

“As a city we have a thriving arts scene and we want to embrace and celebrate this, as well as tap into the potential talent that’s right on our doorstep.

“Our ‘Movie Makers’ half-term activity is going to be a fantastic opportunity for visitors with the acting bug, a love of the silver screen or those simply keen to experience a little of what it’s like to be on set and perform in front of a camera.”

Not only will people learn a little about performing for the camera, they will also have the chance to get involved in some of the processes that go into making a film. Each workshop will be run by two professional film makers who will go through the development of storyboards, acting with a green screen as well as the editing process.

    Lisa continued:

“We are really looking forward to seeing how customers engage with this event, I’m sure many people would love an opportunity to try their hand at acting or even learning the more technical side of how films are made, and this is the perfect chance to do so.”

The Movie Makers workshops will be taking place at central square in Quadrant Shopping Centre on Wednesday 30 May until Friday 1 June between 11am and 3pm. Each workshop will be running for 30minutes with groups of up to eight people taking part per session. For more information on how to take part visit www.quadrantshopping.co.uk.
