A pension specialist, which has its headquarters in Cardiff, has presented two Bristol University students with the Quantum Advisory Prize 2018. Muhammad Ridhwaan Korimbocus – known as Ridhwaan – and Jayna Atool Vegad share the title of best performing student on the accounting and finance undergraduate programmes.

Ridhwaan achieved an average mark of 84.6% on his BSc Economics and Accounting degree, while Jayna secured an 87% average grade on her BSc Accounting and Finance course including 100% in Financial Accounting which is almost unheard of. Both students will share the £1,000 prize to help further their careers in the finance sector.

The Quantum Advisory Prize is in its inaugural year and will be presented by pension experts Quantum Advisory annually to those finance students who have exceled at Bristol University during their final year.

Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Law at Bristol University, Professor Paddy Ireland, along with Partner and Actuary at Quantum Advisory, Stuart Price, recently presented Ridhwaan, 21, and Jayna, 21, with the award at an undergraduate prize-giving ceremony at the Wills Memorial Building.

    Jayna, from Rugby, said:

“When I found out that I had won the Quantum Advisory Prize, I felt very honoured. As part of my degree programme, I was fortunate to have been able to study abroad in Spain during the past academic year. Without a doubt it was a fantastic opportunity, however there were times when it was very challenging, particularly with the language barrier. As a result, winning this award is very important to me as it shows that the hard work, both last year in Spain and in previous years at Bristol, really did pay off. I am very grateful to have received it and plan to make good use of the prize money by putting it towards studying for the ACA qualification after university.”

    Ridhwaan, from Highlands, Mauritius, said:

“I would like to thank Quantum Advisory for this prize. I am extremely honoured to be the recipient of this award. Since I love travelling, I will use the prize to visit some of UK’s famous locations.”

Professor Mark Clatworthy, Department of Accounting and Finance, University of Bristol, said: “We are thankful and delighted that Quantum Advisory have so generously sponsored these prizes. Both Ridhwaan and Jayna performed exceptionally well on their degree programmes and it is very pleasing to hear that they will put their prize winnings to such good use; broadening their horizons and investing in their careers. These awards will remain a source of pride for both the students and the faculty for years to come. Once again, we express sincere thanks to Quantum Advisory – and to Stuart Price in particular – for their generous recognition of our students’ achievements.”

Stuart Price said: “It was a privilege to attend the prize-giving ceremony and witness the efforts of the undergraduates – they should all be very proud. A special congratulations go to Ridhwaan and Jayna for their amazing results and we look forward to watching their careers develop. The Quantum Advisory Award will annually recognise those students who exceed expectations and it is a delight to start this partnership with Bristol University.”
