It was the biggest ever Brecon Carreg CDF 10K event, with thousands of runners and spectators taking over the Welsh capitol on Sunday (7th September).
More than 7800 runners were registered to take part in the 10K and supporting 2K race, and despite the rain spirits remained high as they took in all of Cardiff’s iconic landmarks including the Principality Stadium, Cardiff Castle as well as the city’s beautiful parklands.
It was Omar Ahmed who took first prize in the men’s race with a time of 29:27 and in the women’s race, Natasha Wilson claimed the top spot and a new PB with a time of 32:42. Both also won their respective categories in the R4W 10K Series too.
Ahmed said: “Despite the weather conditions today’s been good and I’m so happy to win the race. There was a good, supportive crowd out cheering which is why I always like running in Wales. I really like the CDF 10K, the course, the crowd and the organisation were beautiful.”
Wilson added: “I ran a PB today so I’m happy. I wanted to come here and break sub 33:00 and I did that. It was a bit of a last-minute decision as I’ve got Copenhagen Half next week, so I wanted to run out today as prep and to give me a bit of confidence going into next week. It’s always nice to come out to Cardiff as there’s a good group of guys who pull me through. It’s great to be back in the capital and racing in front of a Welsh crowd.”
In the wheelchair event it was Owen Terrell who came in first despite experiencing a puncture to his chair.
He said: “It was a great race until about the 3rd or 4th kilometre when my tyre decided to go ‘no’ and just died. It was bad. Despite that I enjoyed it and now I’m looking forward to the Cardiff Half in a couple of weeks’ time followed by the Swansea 10K and that’s me done for the rest of the year.”
Among the thousands of runners taking part in this year’s race was a team of 200 participants fundraising for the event’s Lead Charity, Kidney Wales.
Headline Sponsor Brecon Carreg also brought their team of Ploggers along, who were helping to keep the route clean by picking up litter as they ran.

The event was the final race in the 2025 R4W 10K Series which also featured the ABP Newport 10K, Barry Island 10K and Brecon Carreg Porthcawl 10K. Bundle entries into the 2026 R4W 10K Series will go live on Thursday 11th September.
