Renishaw has marked 15 years at its Miskin site in South Wales with an Open Day for employees, friends and families on Saturday 3 October.
Visitors were able to explore the new Hall 3 and employee wellbeing centre, part of a £70 million expansion programme that will ultimately double the size of the site by adding 464,000 sq ft (43,100 m²) of new space.
The development includes new production facilities and an employee wellbeing centre with a fully equipped gym and restaurant.
Renishaw acquired the former Bosch manufacturing site near Miskin in September 2011. Around 950 people from across South Wales are now employed there.
The Open Day ran from 8.30am to 4pm and featured organised site tours, demonstrations of Renishaw’s engineering technologies, science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) activities for younger family members, and an Early Careers stand showing the career pathways available within the company.
Tethered rides in G-MEAS, Renishaw’s sponsored hot air balloon, which has an accessible basket for people with physical disabilities, raised funds for Llantrisant-based charity 2wish, which supports families affected by the sudden death of a child or young adult.
“We have invested around £150 million in the Miskin site since we acquired it in 2011, and reaching its 15th anniversary is an important milestone for our people and for the wider South Wales community,” said Chris Pockett, Head of External Communications at Renishaw. “The latest expansion demonstrates our long-term commitment to manufacturing in the region, creating additional capacity for future growth while providing a modern environment for our employees.”
