A man from Neath Port Talbot has been jailed after he attacked a father and son who were unknown to him in their own front garden.

34-year-old Robin Griffiths, from Resolven, left the adult victim with an orbital bone fracture and restricted eye movement as a result of the attack, and requiring an operation.

Griffiths then struck the victim’s son as he tried to intervene in the assault.

Griffiths pleaded guilty to assault by beating and wounding/inflicting grievous bodily harm without intent in September.

He has been sentenced to 20 months in prison.

    Detective Inspector Danielle Thorne said:

“Everybody should feel safe when they are within the confines of their own home or garden.

“There is absolutely no place for violent people like Robin Griffiths on our streets. It is only right that he should pay for his violence with a spell in prison.”
