A man from Shropshire has been jailed after being found guilty of multiple sexual offences.

52-year-old Sean Murphy was convicted of rape, sexual assault by penetration and assault by beating, with the offences having taken place in Townhill, Swansea in May.

He has today been sentenced to seven and a half years in prison.

He has also been made subject of a restraining order for ten years. He will be on the sex offenders register for life.

    Detective Inspector Sharon Gill-Lewis said:

“Sean Murphy’s offending was despicable, and he has rightly been sentenced to a lengthy jail term.

“I would like to pay tribute to the bravery of the victim in coming forward, without whom a very dangerous man would still be on the streets.”
