Small Is Beautiful in Swansea City Centre for Independents’ Month

Small is beautiful is the message to visitors to Swansea City Centre, who are encouraged to shop locally throughout July – Independents’ Month.

Swansea BID (Business Improvement District) is launching the Independent’s Month campaign, complete with its own loyalty card and offer, to shine a spotlight on the City Centre’s host of independent firms, from boutiques and beauty salons, to cafes and restaurants, in a drive to remind visitors to the City Centre about the wide variety of goods and services on offers from smaller, independent businesses, which are, in many ways, the lifeblood of a unique, vibrant City Centre.

Projects Manager at Swansea BID, Amelia Rudman, said:

“We are very pleased to help give some of our unique BID area businesses a boost with this month-long campaign throughout July – Independents Month. One of the things all shoppers and visitors say they want and appreciate is a City Centre that isn’t a cookie cutter place – people like to enjoy a unique experience, and the high number of independent retailers and businesses in the Swansea BID area help to give us this stand-out character and personality.

“It is important that we do what we can to support these businesses – which are often family run firms, or businesses established by local entrepreneurs, to thrive and to secure their place in the new, regenerated City Centre that is emerging out of the City Deal investment. I would urge everyone to shop locally during Independents’ Month and to look out for the special Swansea BID loyalty card, available at independent City Centre businesses including Buon Appetito, Coco Blush, Nailed It Swansea, Mr Dapper Ltd, Cariad Bridal, Inspirations, Moda, Jack’s Kitchen and many more.

“The loyalty card will be valid until the end of July and it will see consumers who shop in five local participating businesses throughout July entered into a £500 prize draw to spend in five local shops of their choice.”
