A hardworking South Wales couple juggling full-time jobs, a growing property portfolio, and family life have launched Honey Grove Sales and Lettings, a new agency determined to bring honesty and transparency to the local housing market.

Husband-and-wife team Kate and Alex Johnson, who both work for Wales & West Utilities – Kate in the metering team in Newport and her husband Alex as a gas engineer – have spent the last four years building a property business on evenings and weekends.

After successfully flipping seven properties, establishing a serviced accommodation business in West Wales, and managing multiple buy-to-lets in Treorchy, the couple decided it was time to take their expertise further by launching Honeygrove Sales and Lettings.

“We’ve been in the shoes of local buyers, sellers, and landlords,” said Kate. “Time and again, we’ve been let down by agents who don’t listen, don’t communicate, or don’t follow through. We want to change that, to create a service that’s honest, transparent, and personal.”

To help give the business the best start, the couple partnered with Alto, the UK’s leading estate agency software provider, to handle everything from compliance to marketing and administration. “Alto makes running the business simpler and saves us hours of admin every week,” Kate added. “That means we can spend more time where it matters on helping our clients.”

To give back to the community, Honeygrove is offering a no-commission deal for its first 10 sales – charging only a small marketing fee to cover portal listings.

Initially run from the couple’s home office, plans are already underway to open a physical office later this year to provide a welcoming, high-street hub for clients.

“It’s been a whirlwind,” Kate said. “We’re still working our day jobs to support the business as it grows, but we’re passionate about what we do. Property changed our lives, and now we want to help others achieve their goals — whether it’s finding a first home or building an investment portfolio.”
