Sparkle Appeal, a local children’s charity based in South Wales, is celebrating a significant boost of £5,000 raised during an Easter competition hosted by easyfundraising.

The local charity are dedicated to supporting children and young people with disabilities and complex needs, along with their families.

Sparkle Appeal ensures children receive the support they require whilst enjoying equal access to opportunities, life experiences and activities as any other child and their family.

Sparkle is the official charity partner of Serennu, Nevill Hall and Caerphilly Children’s Centres, supporting children, young people and their families from Newport, Caerphilly, Blaenau Gwent, Torfaen and Monmouthshire.

The Egg Hunt competition was launched by easyfundraising, the leading platform for charitable fundraising through online shopping. Using the platform to shop with your favourite online retailers transfers a free donation to a charitable cause with every purchase, at no extra penny to the shopper.

By finding the hidden eggs, easyfundraising users could win a £5,000 donation for their chosen cause, courtesy of TUI.  Nigel, a supportive shopper of Sparkle Appeal – Newport, emerged victorious as the expert egg finder, securing this substantial donation towards supporting local children in South Wales.

With nearly 1,000 children and families benefitting from Sparkle’s tailored services, with everything from engaging youth clubs to therapeutic swimming sessions, this donation couldn’t have come at a better time.

Tracey, fundraising support officer at Sparkle, shared an insight into the significant impact of this prize. Tracey says: “We were absolutely thrilled to hear the news that we had won £5,000, thanks to Nigel who is one of our amazing easyfundraising supporters. We rely 100% on donations, fundraising and grants to support our work, as we receive no statutory funding.”

This donation comes at a crucial time for the charity. It will empower Sparkle to not only maintain but also expand their essential services in the face of escalating demands and financial challenges.

The £5,000 contribution will be instrumental in enabling Sparkle to uphold its specialist leisure clubs, which operate six days a week and serve as a lifeline for children with disabilities.

Reflecting on his pivotal role in Sparkle Appeal’s success, Nigel shared “I’m delighted Sparkle has won this money at a time when they are really struggling to fund their vital services.

“This £5,000 will mean children with a disability or learning difficulties will now have the opportunity to enjoy activities and clubs that other children take for granted.”

Supporting causes like this is now easier than ever, thanks to easyfundraising’sonline shopping platform. Every purchase made through easyfundraising’s channels secures donations to a charity of your choice, without costing you an extra penny.
