Registration is now open for the 2026 Welsh 3 Peaks for Tŷ Hafan Children’s Hospice.
This iconic charity fundraising event offers teams of four plus their designated driver the unforgettable experience of summitting three of the highest peaks in Wales in just one day and all while raising vital funds to support children with life-shortening conditions.
This year’s Welsh 3 Peaks took place last month and saw 36 teams take part, including many from business across South, Mid and West Wales.
Three hundred and seven walkers walked 20.35 miles, and summitted yr Wyddfa, Cadair Idris and Pen y Fan with total ascent of 9,397ft (2,864m) and all in under 17 hours.
James Davies-Hale, Head of Fundraising for Tŷ Hafan, said: “We are so grateful to everyone who took part in this year’s Welsh 3 Peaks for Tŷ Hafan. It was quite a wet day at times making it less than ideal conditions, but everyone just got on with it and making it one of the most memorable Welsh 3 Peaks to date.”
This year’s event, which took place on Saturday, June 7, was sponsored by Thomas Carroll, who entered two teams into the event.
Natalie Sankala, Operations Director at Thomas Carroll, who herself took part in the event, said: “This challenge is another opportunity for us to step up and give back to a charity that means so much to us.
“This is more than just a hike. It’s about pushing ourselves to support a cause that’s close to our hearts. Every pound raised goes directly to Tŷ Hafan, helping them continue to provide comfort, care and precious moments to families who need it most.
“I volunteered to take part in this year’s challenge to not only raise money for Tŷ Hafan but to spend time with a lovely group of people, whilst taking in the amazing Welsh landscape.”
Tŷ Hafan father Jonathan Bugg entered three teams – Daniel’s Jedi, Daniel’s Rebel Alliance and Daniel’s Sith – all taking on the challenge in memory of his son Daniel. A huge Star Wars fan, Daniel was diagnosed with cancer at just 14 years old and died on March 1 last year at Tŷ Hafan, aged 16.
“This was our second year doing the Welsh 3 Peaks Challenge so we must have been mad! As we were doing it for Daniel though we know he wouldn’t expect us to do anything sensible!” said Jonathan.
“It was great to not just share the challenge with friends and family in our own teams but to share with other supporters of Tŷ Hafan, cheering each other on all the way.”
“So far we know that £67,000 has been raised by participants in this year’s Welsh 3 Peaks, but we know that there is yet more to come in,” added James Davies-Hale.
