Swansea residents who make use of the city’s foodbanks are set to have additional items included this week.

There will be family activity packs collated by the council’s Cultural Services team including drawing and colouring materials supplied by local businesses.

Robert Francis-Davies, the council’s cabinet member for investment, regeneration and tourism, said: “The activity packs will help many families looking to keep active.

“I thank the businesses that have donated to this initiative and the council officers who have made it happen – they’re all here for Swansea at this difficult time, in the same way that they are when the country isn’t facing such a crisis.”

Swansea Council is supporting the community food banks with essential supplies to ensure they are able to cope with the increased demand, and has set up four food distribution sites in community centres.

The Enjoy Swansea Bay Activity Packs will be included in foodbank parcels from this week.

The packs include a colouring-in picture and a word search puzzle featuring Enjoy Swansea Bay mascot Jo Joio.

The picture, featuring Jo and a rainbow, can be placed in a window to thank the NHS and for passers-by to enjoy The colouring in sheets were printed by DesignPrint, the council’s design and print service as part of its support to the project

The packs’ crayons, colouring pencils, felt-tip pens and other stationery were donated by Amazon UK’s Swansea depot, the city’s WH Smith Quadrant store, SET Office Supplies, Home Bargains and The Admiral Group.

Also included is a Swansea cultural venues activity pack, including contributions from the Glynn Vivian Art Gallery, Fusion Swansea, Dylan Thomas Centre and Swansea Museum, including quizzes, crosswords, art activities as well as sunflower and vegetable seeds donated by the GRAFT garden project at Swansea’s National Waterfront Museum.

In addition to the colouring packs, Enjoy Swansea Bay’s #AtHome web page resources provide a great source for activities to do whilst at home.

These include activities, photos and video clips from some of the events held in Swansea Bay over the past years.
