Swansea Bay Pop Up returns to Singleton Park

Bruno Nunes, founder of Swansea Bay Pop Up

Swansea’s home-grown street food celebration, The Swansea Bay Pop Up, will return to Singleton Park this April. The outdoor dining experience, which takes place under a big top tent, will be bringing local street food, drink and entertainment for the third year running and promises to be even bigger and better.

The organisers are looking to invite any interested Swansea-based, street food vendors who may be interested in having a pitch to get in touch via the Pop Up website swanseabaypopup.co.uk. Bookings are also open for the festival which will start on 28th April.

In previous years, featured food businesses would need their own food truck in order to join the Pop Up but the organisers are offering a unique opportunity for fledgling food entrepreneurs to bring their food offering to a blank canvas food van to give them the opportunity to trade.

Bruno Nunes, founder of Swansea Bay Pop Up comments: “It’s our third outing at Singleton Park and we’re excited to bring a new range of international cuisines from the best of Swansea’s street food vendors and once again, we’re hoping to offer something even better. We’ve always been passionate about supporting independent businesses and amongst other things, we’re going one step further this year by setting up a guest food truck for independents to use. It may be a chef who wants to try out this type of trading before investing in a truck or it could be a completely new food business concept that needs its first major opportunity to build a following. All that is important to us, is that it’s got to be great grub and if, we can help someone locally in taking that first step, then we’ll be all the happier if we can help someone get their big break in a food venture.

“We opened the Pop Up in the midst of the pandemic and have operated successfully twice now, at a time when many restaurants and bars were forced to close for indoor dining. The hospitality sector has taken a battering during this time but the Pop Up has allowed independent Swansea brands to successfully trade in a safe and secure environment. We’re looking forward to a bit more freedom at this year’s Pop Up, without limits on table numbers and the ability to entertain our crowd in other ways with live music and entertainment. We can’t wait to showcase an evolved and much improved Pop Up, and we’re looking forward to revealing more exciting announcements in the coming weeks.”

More than 78,000 people visited the Swansea Bay Pop Up over its previous two runs. Such is the success of the concept that the team behind it are planning on taking it on the road this summer with further locations in South Wales set to be announced in the coming weeks.
