Tesco has closed its St Mellons superstore following a medical emergency earlier this evening.
Speculation on social media has suggested that the male customer had earlier visited Brynderewen Surgery before entering the supermarket and collapsing. Local residents believe that the customer has since sadly passed away.

In a customer announcement, a spokesperson for Tesco said that the store was suddenly closing and that it would not reopen for the remainder of the day:
“Due to an incident in store we will not be reopening today. Sorry for any inconvenience caused.”
The Welsh Air Ambulance along with other emergency services were in attendance.
A Welsh Ambulance Service spokesperson said:
“We were called yesterday, 26 August, at approximately 16:52 to reports of a medical emergency in the St Mellons area of Cardiff. We responded with two ambulances, one rapid response vehicle and were supported by Wales Air Ambulance.”
