Many are familiar with the glorious game of Bingo. Whether it be playing at a bingo hall, or playing through a Bingo app, players can be sure of a good time. Traditional Bingo halls are amongst some of the most stunning buildings in the UK. Many bingo halls have a rich history behind them, and so are protected through the UK’s heritage and cultural protection laws. We are going to look at some of the UK’s most beautiful bingo halls, and who knows, one day you might be lucky enough to visit some of them.

    Tooting (Buzz Bingo)

When we talk about history and culture, then there are not many better examples out there than Buzz Bingo located in Tooting. This stunning building was once a cinema back in the 1930’s, and has also hosted world-class performers, such as The Beatles, Frank Sinatra, and The Rolling Stones. With such an elegant Art Deco design, this hall is a wonderful place to spend an evening, and makes an evening playing bingo that bit more special.

    Taunton (Mecca)

Formerly, this theatre was a hot-bed for high-end performers, having welcomed the likes of David Bowie, and The Beatles back in the 1960’s. Back then, the theatre was the illustrious, The Gaumont Theatre, and thrived in a period of great performing artists. These days it is a busy bingo hall, morning, afternoon, and evening sessions from Tuesday – Saturday, and evening sessions on Sunday and Monday.

It’s time as a bingo hall may be coming to an end though, with a recent petition by a number of locals stating a desire for it to return to its glory days as a music performance venue. So maybe it’s a good time to visit while it’s still possible!

Rhyl (Apollo Bingo) & Aldgate (Dabbers Social)

Another Art Deco building to have made the list. Apollo Bingo may be Art Deco on the outside, but it is ultra-modern on the inside. In 2016, the inside of this Grade II listed building went under the knife to have 500,000 renovation works done on the inside to bring it into the 21st Century and support the growing popularity of bingo in Wales. The club had new seating put in, a stage, and a brand-new entrance. It’s safe to say that this bingo hall will be around for a while.

If nothing else, Dabbers Social is certainly one of the most unique UK venues where you will find a bingo community, and is further proof that bingo has a bright future. In a neon-lit club in the centre of London is where you will find Dabbers Social, it has themed events like, Brunch Club Bingo, Dog Bingo, and also hosts bingo nights where you can enjoy on-stage dance battles!

    Not Just a Bingo Evening

The beauty with a bingo evening is that it can be tailor made to suit your schedule. There may be sessions that go on for a few hours, but you are by no means obligated to stay for the duration; although it does come recommended that you do so. If you are in the mood for just one or two games, then just go ahead and enjoy a couple of games. You can even make bingo part of an action-packed evening for yourself, fitting it in around a dinner reservation, or a few drinks in the pub.

Either way, if you are going to play bingo, then why not do it in stunning surroundings as the venues mentioned above. It might even be a truly special evening if you manage to land a cash prize or two!
