The Most Thrilling Forthcoming Slots of 2022

Let’s be honest here; online slots players genuinely have never had it so good. Every month, dozens of new games are released by an ever-expanding catalogue of software houses, eager to earn a slice of the rapidly expanding online slots market. In such a lively and dynamic industry, making any accurate predictions can be difficult, if not impossible – but it’s always fun to speculate!

Sakura Fortune 2 – Quickspin

Sakura Fortune was one of the first mega hits from Quickspin, so many slot fans are eagerly awaiting the release of what could be said to be a long overdue sequel. Some sources of online casino news have already reviewed this game, although it isn’t clear whether those reviews were written from playing an early demo or just from the details given on product sheets from Quickspin.

The game is known to have an unusual reel arrangement, sporting a 3-4-4-4-3 layout, for a total of 576 pay ways. Stacked wild symbols have been seen in screenshots and there are strong indications that these will also have a nudge feature to aid in hitting bigger wins. A multiplier-based free spins round with sticky wild symbols has also been announced by Quickspin, who claim that Sakura Fortune 2 will be capable of producing wins of over 19,000x the players stake.

This one is due out very soon, so it won’t be long before we find out the rest of the details!

Dead or Alive Megaways – NetEnt

Announced by NetEnt at the very beginning of 2022, it was always only a matter of time before Dead or Alive would see a further sequel following the immense success of Dead or Alive 2. This new Megaways addition to the franchise isn’t due for a release until the back end of the year, so very little details can be confirmed with any certainty at this time. One thing is for sure though – NetEnt would never release a new Dead or Alive slot machine without making sure it was a monster-paying record breaker of a slot!

The original Dead or Alive spent years as one of NetEnt’s most popular games; the title was such a hit that NetEnt resisted making a sequel to the title for many years as there was simply no need – tens of thousands of players were still spending money spinning the original, and as the adage goes – “if it ain’t broke, why fix it?”.

There are some details being posted about Dead or Alive Megaways already, although information such as a maximum of 117,649 pay ways could well just be assumptions based on the typical setup of a Megaways game. For that reason, we won’t repeat these unverified claims here – we absolutely cannot wait to find out more, however!

Jurassic Park Gold – Microgaming

Microgaming has acquired something of a reputation as the king of licensed slots, constantly pushing out a stream of high-quality games based around the biggest franchises such as Batman, Terminator, and this one – Jurassic Park. The original Jurassic Park game from Microgaming was part of their 243-way library of slots and was extremely well received by most slots’ players.

This new “Gold” version promises top wins of over 8,000x the players stake, a WildStorm feature which could potentially be similar to the WildStorm feature in Thunderstruck 2 which added between 1-5 full stacks of wilds to the reels, and a “Link & Win” re-spin feature. A multiplier-based free spins feature has been announced, but it would be quite unlike Microgaming not to include several different free spin modes in a new branded slot release.

Microgaming hasn’t announced a release date for Jurassic Park Gold yet, but many details have already been confirmed by the developer and several online review sites are indicating that we may see a release for this one in the next few weeks.

Apollo Pays Megaways – Big Time Gaming

We have saved the last spot for the delayed Apollo Pays Megaways game from Big Time Gaming – the creators of the Megaways payout mechanic that has proved so popular amongst online slots players. The developer initially promised that they would be creating a new Megaways game in “early 2022” before stating the game should be out by March. Apparently, the game is being trialed at some online casinos in certain jurisdictions already, although we were not able to confirm this information at the time of writing.

Big Time Gaming have announced the game will have an RTP of 96.36% and offer a maximum of 117,649 Megaways – so far, so standard, but a top win of over 116,000x your stake is undoubtedly a standout statistic that has many slot fans in awe. There aren’t many online slots that boast a maximum jackpot as large as this, so we can imagine there will be many thousands of players eager to give this one a spin as soon as it goes on general release.
