The Red Arrows are heading back to Swansea this summer

Wales Air Show - Swansea in 2022

World-famous RAF team The Red Arrows are set the thrill crowds at Swansea’s Wales Airshow this summer.

They’re the first big name to be confirmed for the two-day spectacular due to take place over the stunning sands of Swansea Bay on July 1 and 2. The annual show is being organised once again by Swansea Council.

The Red Arrows are due to visit on both days when there’ll also be many other stars of the skies and a wide range of family fun on the ground, including displays, virtual reality experiences and live music.

Council cabinet member Robert Francis-Davies said: “We’re delighted that The Red Arrows will be flying over Swansea again this summer.

“They’re a huge draw and help illustrate why our armed forces are so important.

“The Wales Airshow will be a fantastic weekend for Swansea. As the city’s reputation grows as a top class venue for big events, this show is a great partner for others such as the returning IRONMAN 70.3 Swansea and World Triathlon Para Series Swansea.

“This summer’s highlights will also include Madness and Ministry of Sound Classical playing Singleton Park.”

Last summer’s Wales Airshow; the first after a two-year break due to the COVID pandemic; was a huge success.

Attractions then included the Red Arrows, the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight, The Tigers parachute display team, the Aerosuperbatics WingWalkers and Team Raven.

The show hosted the local leg of the Queen’s Baton Relay, celebrating Birmingham’s 2022 Commonwealth Games.

Cllr Francis-Davies said: “The Airshow contributes millions of pounds to Swansea’s local businesses and our local economy.

“We thank businesses and residents for their patience with the necessary road closures and to all traders for their contribution to the show’s ongoing success.

“Among the stars of the show are the tens of thousands of people who enjoy a day out or a weekend in Swansea. The family atmosphere they help generate results in a great weekend.”
