This is what it takes to pull off a mega fireworks display in Wales

Cardiff Round Table presents Wales’ largest fireworks display tonight (Saturday, 3rd November, 2018).

This year’s Sparks In The Park event will take place at Blackweir Fields, Bute Park, Cardiff.

The highly popular display, which takes place annually, is expected to see 20,000 people come from across Cardiff and South Wales. The display will accompanied by live presenters from HeartFM, a full on fun fair with food and drinks available to purchase.

This isn’t your do-it-yourself at home fireworks display, oh no, it takes hundreds of man hours with planning time lasting almost 12 months. This means, pretty much as soon as tonight’s display has finished, the team will be working on 2019.

That’s not all…

It takes a whopping 1kg of black powder…. 1,000 shells and 5 – 6 hours of set up!

And this is what will kick off tonight’s display….

It also takes a ton of Papa John’s Pizza…

Speaking ahead of tonight’s event, Matty Veale, Chair of Sparks in the Park 2018 said:

“Cardiff Round Table gives us the unique opportunity to get involved with things you just don’t get the opportunity to do in your day job.

“Take Sparks in the Park – it’s Wales’s biggest fireworks display, organised exclusively by volunteers with ALL of the money raised going to Welsh charities. And for anyone worrying about the rain today, we’ve got enough fireworks to clear any rain!”
