In just under one month, thousands of athletes will descend on Swansea to compete in IRONMAN® 70.3® Swansea, as the IRONMAN® Pro Series™ heads to the UK for the very first time.

Professional triathletes from all over the world will be coming to compete in the prestigious IRONMAN Pro Series. The full start list of athletes will be announced in the coming weeks, but we can expect a powerhouse lineup.

As usual, the race is expected to attract a strong local crowd, with most of the field being from the UK. This event offers men’s and women’s Age Group Qualifying slots to the 2026 IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship in Nice, France. Athletes will be flying in from as far as the US, Switzerland, and Belgium.

IRONMAN 70.3 Race Director, Rebecca Sutherland, said: “We can’t wait to welcome thousands of athletes to Swansea for yet another sell-out edition of the race! The support when we go racing in Wales is like nowhere else on earth. Add that to the first ever IRONMAN Pro Series race in the UK and we’re set for an incredible day of racing.”

Athletes will first take on a one-loop 1.2-mile (1.9km) swim at the Prince of Wales Dock, before heading out on a one-loop 56-mile (90km) bike course through Mumbles along roads that hug the Gower’s coastal clifftops. They will then cycle out through rural Swansea and head back along Swansea Bay into the city. The race will be capped off with a 13.1-mile (21.1km) two-loop run course which takes them from the city centre, past the new eye-catching gold-coloured Swansea Arena, towards Mumbles, before heading back towards the finish line at the Marina.

Welsh rugby legend Shane Williams will also be taking part in the race and is sure to generate some amazing crowd support along the route.

Athletes will be racing for a share of the $50,000 event prize purse and a slot at the 2026 IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship. The full male and female professional start list for IRONMAN 70.3 Swansea will be announced in due course. IRONMAN 70.3 Swansea will be showcased to a global audience, with the race broadcast for free across multiple platforms including proseries.ironman.com, DAZN, and l’Équipe in France, putting Swansea firmly in the global triathlon spotlight.
