Thrive Group Wales, the social enterprise that supports Neath Port Talbot’s Thrive Women’s Aid, has been awarded the contract to run the restaurant in Swansea Central Police station by South Wales Police.
The contract will run for two years, with an option to extend, and is to provide staff and visitors to Swansea Central Police station hot and cold food and beverages during the working hours, as well as hosting events and themed menus. The restaurant currently employs two people, who have now been transferred into the employ of the Thrive Group.
Thrive Group Wales is also now in discussions with South Wales Police about providing other catering provisions in the Neath Port Talbot area.
This is the first big catering contract that the Thrive Group Wales has won and is a major step forward in the social enterprise’s expansion into catering services. It currently has a cleaning arm, as well as Playhem, a play centre in Port Talbot. All profits from Thrive Group activities are distributed directly to Thrive Women’s Aid, which supports sufferers and survivors of domestic abuse in the Neath Port Talbot area.

We have been running a successful catering van for a few years now, visiting local industrial estates and offices, as well as providing buffet services, but it is wonderful to win a long term contract like this.
“It is also great that South Wales Police is helping those affected by domestic violence in the region by awarding Thrive Group this contract, as all of the profits will go directly to our charity arm and support services in the region.”
