It is no news that job market nowadays it is very competitive. With this cut-throat competition, you would like to look for help from employment agencies Toronto.

But where do you start? Obviously you should start by identifying the right type of a recruitment agency that offers opportunities in your area. There are a myriad types of job agencies in Toronto that help both companies and job seekers to get the right talents and land best positions respectively.

When selecting the right job agency to use, there are various things that you need to look at. First think about your career field, work history( whether you are experienced or entering job market as a new recruit), location (are willing to relocate after you get the job or are do you need job in a specific region). Another thing you would want to consider is your flexibility (are you open to work for all types of jobs such as part-time, temp-to-hire or perm jobs?). Lastly, you will need to consider your skill set. Learn more about types of employment agencies Toronto in Team Global / MSM.

    1. Traditional Agencies

They provide services to both companies and job seekers. Traditional employment agencies help companies get relevant talents and also connect job seekers to their ideal positions. Sometimes, these agencies may charge the job seeker. It is essential to ask if the agency you are using charge such a fee to avoid later inconveniences.

Most traditional employment agencies Toronto are not generalists. They specialize in specific areas, making them highly knowledgeable in those areas. Companies pay them to find employees on their behalf. Most companies, however, do not retain these agencies. Therefore, a job seeker can do as fine without applying through them.

    2. Contingency Agencies

These agencies are not exclusive to the employment companies as they send lots of resumes to the employing company. Candidates cannot depend on them since they are always competing with external ones who found the job advert from other sources.

Usually, these agencies charge their candidates after the employing company has accepted them. Either the employer or the employee settles this fee and job seekers should ask for clarifications before signing an agreement with these agencies. They are not highly knowledgeable in their fields and deal with entry-level and mid-level job seekers.

    3. Retained/ Executive Search Firm

They deal with executive and senior-level employees. Companies rely on their services to find them the most suitable candidate for the available position.

Usually, the companies give these agencies a specific period to find them a candidate. Companies pay for the expenses incurred by the agency, and whether or not they employ the candidate, they pay the agency an agreed percentage of the candidate’s salary.

Sometimes, these agencies would reach out to candidates who are in other companies in an attempt to find the best. They would talk them out and try to “hunt” them from their current employer.

A job agency often make a thorough screening of their candidates to ensure that the one they pick has all it takes to handle the available position. It does not accept anything less than excellent talents.

    4. Temporary (Temp) Agencies

These agencies specialize in finding temporary employees for temporary jobs. They act as employers to these employees and are responsible for making payments to them.

Sometimes, the temporary positions may turn into permanent positions. When this happens, the contract between the job seeker and the agency ends there, and they start reporting to their new employer.

A temp job agency may provide a few allowances to their candidates during the contract period. The benefits may include health insurance, vacation pay, childcare allowance, and others, depending on the agency. They may also retain the temporary employee’s information, and whenever there is an opening, they call them for a new contract.

    5. Caution

As a job seeker, avoid overly depending on employment agencies Toronto as they can limit you in getting jobs. Make use of additional sources such as job boards and making connections with relevant networks. Also, always visit your target companies’ websites and send applications through the human resources departments to increase your chances of landing your ideal job.

The key to landing your dream job is using the right job agency and using various platforms for looking for the job.
