After a year of fundraising activities, not-for-profit housing organisation United Welsh is pleased to announce it has raised over £6,100 for Velindre Cancer Centre.

After selecting Velindre as the charity of the year for 2024/25, staff got to work fundraising for the cancer centre.  People across the organisation took part in a range of activities to range funds, including bake sales, running races and walking 30,000 steps a day.

Velindre, the Hospital of Hope has been providing specialist treatment and supportive care to cancer patients and families for over 65 years.

Money raised for Velindre Charity helps fund ground breaking research and clinical trials, cutting edge treatments, specialist nurses, support services, therapies, equipment and so much more which are above those provided by the NHS.

Emma Prince, Regional Fundraising and Engagement Manager at Velindre, said: “On behalf of Velindre Cancer Centre, we want to say a huge thank you to all the staff at United Welsh for choosing us as your charity of the year and raising such an incredible amount.

“Your contributions will help provide care, support and hope to patients and families when it’s needed the most.

Richard Mann, Group Chief Executive at United Welsh, said: “Our mission at United Welsh goes beyond building homes and creating communities. It’s also about helping people live happy, healthy lives.

“We are proud to have raised such a brilliant amount for Velindre and we hope it make a meaningful contribution to the vital work they do.”
