voco St. David’s, Cardiff has proudly unveiled a new pop-up shop exclusively supporting Cardiff-based charity, Heads Above the Waves – an independently run not-for-profit organisation, raising awareness of depression and self-harm in young people; promoting positive, creative ways of dealing with the bad days.

Located in the hotel’s lobby, the pop-up shop stocks a new, limited edition range of clothing, designed by Joshua Price. A collaboration between Heads Above the Waves and Wales Coast Path, each item of clothing is designed to help start a conversation. It’s hoped the ‘merch with a message’ will initiate the importance of talking about positive mental health.

The apparel, which champions the Welsh language, includes the ‘Clirio’r Meddwl’ Hoodie – Welsh for ‘clear your mind’; the ‘Cymer Anadl’ Tee – Welsh for ‘take a breath’ – and the ‘Find Yourself’ Tee. Prices start from £25, with sizes ranging from S to 2XL. 100% of the proceeds from purchases made by guests at vocoâ St. David’s, Cardiff will go to Heads Above the Waves.

Talking about the new Heads Above the Waves pop-up shop, Konstantin Grimm, General Manager, vocoâ St. David’s, Cardiff says:

“We’re very proud to support local and help make a difference, and Heads Above the Waves is an incredible charity. Their new merchandise is a capsule collection of clothing designed to help people talk. Its association with Wales Coastal Path is fantastic – we’re lucky to have an 870-mile path along the coast here in Wales, which is the perfect reason to get out, explore and feel the benefits of the great outdoors and time in nature. By making a purchase, our guests will help the charity to keep on being there to support young people who are struggling with their mental health and self-harm.”

Each item of clothing acts as a reminder. The Hoodie is a reminder that getting outdoors and connecting with nature is great for your mental health and can help clear your mind. Get up, get outside and take some deep breaths – you’ll thank yourself for it. The Cymer Anadl Tee is a reminder that connecting with nature is great, and so is connecting with yourself. Breathing sounds simple, but it can have a huge impact on your wellbeing. The Find Yourself Tee is a reminder to try new things, mindfully do things and really think about what makes you, you.
