Warning over fake vaccine form scam

Welsh Government has issued a warning that fake vaccine consent forms may be circulating in schools.

The bogus forms have reportedly been sent to schools across the UK by anti-vaccine groups after it was announced that all children aged 12-15 would be offered their first dose by the end of the October half-term.

Under an ‘NHS Vaccines’ logo, the form falsely claims that the vaccine is a risk for ‘strokes, blindness, deafness, clotting, miscarriages, anaphylaxis and cardiovascular disorders’.

We are aware that anti-vaccine groups are trying to circulate fake vaccine consent forms among UK schools in an attempt to spread fear and mistrust.

While we have yet to see these forms appear in any Bridgend County Borough schools, we must remain vigilant, so please share this warning with friends and family and ensure you get your facts from reliable sources.

Getting vaccinated is the best way to fight this pandemic, and I want to encourage all those who are eligible to make sure they receive both doses. Having the vaccine limits the effects of coronavirus, and helps to keep you, your family, your friends and the wider community as safe as possible.

Council Leader Huw David

More than 104,000 people in Bridgend County Borough are now fully vaccinated. Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board have confirmed that appointment letters have been sent to eligible 12-15 years olds with specific underlying health conditions.

Anyone aged 16 and over who has yet to receive their first dose of the vaccine can do so with no prior booking by visiting a Covid-19 Vaccination Centre. These walk-in appointments are available at community vaccination centres within the region.

This includes Ravens Court in Bridgend town centre (CF31 4AP) where the walk-in appointments are available between 11am and 4.30pm. Details of other vaccination centres in the region are also available on the health board’s website.

The Pfizer vaccine will be administered from Mondays to Thursdays, while both the Oxford AstraZeneca vaccine and Pfizer vaccine will administered on Fridays.

Anyone who wishes to take advantage of the walk-in appointments will need to bring along a form of ID such as a passport, drivers licence or a utility bill for proof of address.
