    Welsh Fabricator to Support Construction of Prestigious R&D Campus

    One of the Wales’ leading aluminium fabricators, Dudley’s Aluminium is celebrating after securing a contract to start work on Babraham Research & Development (R&D) Campus in Cambridge.

     

    The contract, which was awarded by SDC Construction Ltd, is worth in excess of £1.5million and is to support the construction of Babraham R&D College. Dudley’s Aluminium will install Kawneer curtain walling with feature caps throughout the campus, as well as steel curtain walling, fire rated windows and doors, and top-of-the-line revolving doors and automatic swing doors.

     

    The college is widely regarded as one of the UK’s leading campus’ that supports early-stage bioscience enterprise. The new building will house life science start-ups and scale-ups in the same way as the existing Campus, which is now home to over 60 enterprises.

     

    Speaking about the contract win, Colin Shorney, Managing Director of Dudley’s Aluminium, said: “We are thrilled to have secured the contract for the construction of the Babraham R&D Campus in Cambridge. We have worked on a number of great construction projects in the educational sector that support new technologies and innovation, and it is great to be part of the development that will potentially shape the future.”

     

    The project will begin construction in summer 2018 with an estimated date of completion of autumn 2018.

     

    The Babraham Research & Development Campus is one of many projects in the education industry that Dudley’s has secured in the passed year, including Bath University’s new student accommodation, Polden Corner, and the innovative Computational Foundry for Swansea University.

     

    Dudley’s reputation for quality has been recognised with several industry-related accreditations. The company is CHAS and Achilles accredited, Constructionline registered and certified to manufacture “Secured by Design” products.

     

    Established in 1993, Dudley’s Aluminium offers clients full in-house design and production facilities, and has completed many successful and prestigious education, health, commercial, retail and defence sector projects throughout the UK and Channel Islands.
