Welsh wrestling stars fresh from WWE tryout to headline action packed Caerphilly event

Two Welsh wrestlers who recently earned invitations to a WWE tryout will be among the stars in action when No Mercy Wrestling returns to Caerphilly Leisure Centre for Fearless on Sunday, 28 June.

The event promises a packed afternoon of championship matches and some of the top names on the British independent wrestling scene.

Headlining the show, No Mercy Wrestling Champion MJ Grayson will defend his title against Merthyr Tydfil’s Josh Holly.

Holly has competed across the UK and Europe and arrives in Caerphilly looking to capture the promotion’s top prize, while Grayson will be aiming to continue his championship reign.

One of the most unique championship matches on the card sees Swansea’s ‘The Prima’ Tommy Vril challenge Bridgend’s Adam Crater for the No Mercy Legacy Championship.

Vril has built a reputation across the UK independent wrestling scene by combining his background in ballet with professional wrestling, blending graceful footwork and theatrical performance with his in ring ability. Earlier this year, he was among a select group of British wrestlers invited to a WWE tryout.

His opponent, Adam Crater, is a homegrown Welsh talent who hails from Bridgend and trained at the No Mercy Wrestling Academy, giving the championship contest strong local connections.

The No Mercy Outbreak Championship will also be on the line as Ryan Saint defends against Chicago Desailly in a traditional two out of three falls match.

One of wrestling’s most historic match formats, victory can only be claimed by securing two pinfalls or submissions. The format was a staple of British wrestling during the World of Sport era in the 1970s and 1980s and remains one of the sport’s most respected championship contests.

The women’s division will see Violet Nyte face Aluna.

Nyte, from Halesowen in the West Midlands, trained under Welsh wrestling star Flash Morgan Webster and has already won championship gold since making her debut in 2022.

Aluna discovered professional wrestling after attending a local independent show before ever watching the sport on television and has since become a respected figure on the UK independent wrestling scene.

The event also features a Fatal Four Way match involving Leon Cage from Neath Port Talbot, Joe Lando, Kelly Sixx and Chris Ares.

Nicknamed ‘The Futurist’, Cage competed in more than 110 matches during 2024, attracted over two million social media views and, alongside Tommy Vril, received an invitation to a WWE tryout earlier this year.

American born high flyer Joe Lando, Southampton’s Kelly Sixx, known as the ‘King of Performance’, and Milton Keynes based Chris Ares complete the four man contest.

Fearless takes place at Caerphilly Leisure Centre on Sunday, 28 June, from 2pm until 6pm.

General admission tickets are available from £13.50 for children and £18.50 for adults. Family tickets for two adults and two children start from £55, while VIP tickets and meet and greet add ons are also available.
