Wild Water Group continues expansion drive with new property purchase

Wild Water Group, South Wales’ largest bespoke temperature controlled storage and distribution company, have continued their strategic expansion drive into the new year with the purchase of Compass House, a 6000 sq ft office block adjacent to the companies existing cold storage and blast freezing facility in Merthyr Tydfil.

The investment follows the 2018 purchase of a 130 000 sq ft cold storage and co-packing facility in Aberbargoed and is intended to strengthen the Group’s administration infrastructure aimed at supporting the growing Welsh Food and Drink Sector.

The additional property, funded by Lloyds Bank Commercial Banking, is a modern two-story brick masonry building located in Merthyr Tydfil Industrial Park.

Wild Water Group MD, Ken Rattenbury, said he was extremely pleased with the purchase.

“This starts our year on a very positive note as our wider planned investment in the area comes to fruition. Given the location to our cold storage facility in Merthyr, we knew the building had a lot of potential and as part of Wild Water Group’s overall expansion strategy, it’s the perfect fit.

“It’s an exciting growth period for us as a company and particularly for the food and drink manufacturers within the region. We have already signed new co-packing contracts with local food producers and have a few more prospects in the pipeline for our first quarter”, he adds.

Mr Rattenbury says that the purchase of Compass House will create a variety of new administrative work positions, thereby boosting the local economy and inevitably supporting the wider Merthyr Tydfil community.

“We have a growing working relationship with the local Merthyr Council, “ he says “and they are very proactive and supportive and understand what we are trying to achieve as a business. Wild Water Group are increasingly becoming a key strategic partner for the Welsh Food and Drink sector and our recently signed alliance agreement with GAC Group adds further value to our global export focus for our customers”.

Through Welsh Government funding, the Aberbargoed facility is also earmarked to create up to 120 new work positions across various management, supervisory and apprenticeship roles.
