Winning Betting Strategies That You Could Use in College Football

When people talk about football, the NFL immediately comes to mind. It has fewer teams, it’s a prominent sports association, and most people are already acquainted with its team. This is especially true for bettors since they already know a lot about the teams and have been betting on them for a long time.

However, did you know that you could also profit in the NCAAF just as much as betting on the NFL? If we got your attention, then read on because, in this article, we will be talking about some strategies that can make your bankroll much bigger when betting in NCAAF. Here are some of them.

    Specialize in a Conference

There are a lot of games you can bet on the NCAAF. It can be overwhelming, especially if you’re new, because you’ll need clarification about which game you want to bet on. One strategy you can use, though, is to choose a conference you want to bet on.

It would also be better if you researched your chosen conference. If you bet on high-profile games, there needs to be more value since there are a lot of sharps in these games, and they’re pretty fast when it comes to changing the lines on these games.

Only participate in these games if you’re experienced enough. However, if you bet on a conference with games all over the board, you’ll find many valuable opportunities. Not to mention that they are pretty much more exciting than high-profile games. If you’re good enough to master one conference, you can expand on other conferences and try your luck there.

    Home-Field Advantage is Constantly Overvalued

A team playing at their home has several advantages. They are playing in a familiar stadium, they have lots of fans cheering them on, and they’re more likely to push themselves more challenging because of the pressure they have on their shoulders. You’re dead mistaken if you think that doesn’t translate to odds. Bookies award three points on average to home teams. This tends to result in the home team’s odds being overvalued.

Because of this, the bookies shade them, making the underdogs a much better bet in terms of payout. Remember, bookies always want to level the playing field when it comes to betting for them to profit.

If the bettors only bet on the home team, they won’t make any money. Because of the increased payout, it’s often more profitable to bet on the underdogs. Sure, they have less chance of winning the game, but if they do and you bet on them, the payout is worth the risk.

Always Take the Points Against -30 or Higher

With NCAAF odds, you would always see some crazy spreads. Powerhouse teams always schedule several severely outmatched opponents to use them as warm-up games. They do this by paying the schools hefty sums of money, and in exchange, they let their college players go against essentially future NFL players.

While this can be a question about ethics, it’s not a question of whether it’s profitable because it always will be. For this strategy, you should find a significant program with a massive fanbase, like Ohio State, USC, or Notre Dame. You should find a popular one that bookies tend to pump up their lines in anticipation of the betting action these schools get.

Usually, the bookies tend to make the lines at least -30 in favor of the significant school. This doesn’t mean that the school is much better than the other; it just means that they expect a lot of wagers on the favorites.

That said, by betting on the underdogs instead, you’d win at least 60-65% of your bets, which is very profitable. Not to mention that the payouts for these matchups can be insane. These games are usually found early in the season, so you must be fast.

Always Go for the Active Underdogs

College athletes tend to have more let-down games or games driven by emotion than their professional counterparts. Good teams overlook their current matchups and focus more on the games ahead, especially if they are expected to match against a rival school far along the schedule. You can often get crazy results from programs getting hyped up after a bad loss.

In this scenario, we’re looking for a team on the opposite end of one of those traits, which we call active underdogs. Sure, they might not be able to defeat their opponents outright, but they can usually surprise them at the start of the game. In this scenario, betting on the overs is your best bet.

    Final Words

Now that we’re in the middle of the NCAAF season, there’s no better time to use some of these strategies to win more bets. These strategies are proven and tested by veterans and are widely used by most bettors. So, if you want to win more bets, follow these strategies.
