Construction has officially commenced at Sant Silian, a new development by independent housebuilder Dandara. Following the acquisition of the land in February 2022, Dandara’s Wales & West Division is building 144 homes on its 9 acre site in the north-east of the city.
Sant Silian is part of a wider development that includes a local school, allotments, and a park alongside the Rhymney River, bringing new life and a sense of community to this up-and-coming area of Cardiff.
Benefiting from ease of access, excellent local retail and leisure attractions, the homes are being built with a focus on Welsh skills and materials, creating valuable new jobs for the area. Dandara is committed to giving a preference to employment for local people, sub-contractors from the region and Welsh materials in support of the South Wales economy.
Tracey Gallacher-Thresh, Sales and Marketing Director at Dandara Wales & West, said: “It’s fantastic to see construction work start at Sant Silian. We’ll be building two, three and four-bedroom family homes, continuing our focus on thoughtful design with high specification, quality building and a good understanding of the hopes, dreams and desires of our homebuyers. Cardiff is a great city, and Sant Silian will be a flagship development in the area.”
The first phase of homes are expected to be released for sale this Summer with the first residents moving into their new homes in the autumn.
With a fast and easy commute to Bristol, Sant Silian is located close to Pentwyn Link Road which provides direct access to the M4 motorway and into central Cardiff. Nearby the development is also Cardiff Gate Retail Park which includes a supermarket, gym, various home stores and a selection of cafes and restaurants.
Homebuyers can enjoy the stunning Welsh countryside near the site including the nearby Rhymney Trail with plentiful green space and fresh air. Families will benefit from the brand new school being built on the development, which is due to open in September 2023, with good schools of various denominations a short distance away including Busy bees Nursery school.
As part of the commitment to the local community, Dandara will be building a mix of one and two bedroom apartments along with two, three and four bedroom houses which will be transferred to their housing association partner on this development; Cardiff Community Housing Association CCHA.
