A new trade event connecting Wrexham producers and businesses will launch next week as part of an effort to boost local trade, reduce food miles and grow the local economy.

Held at the Wrexham Enterprise Hub on Rhosddu Road on 11th May, the expo will bring together a range of producers and local businesses in a bid to encourage more people to stock local produce and products, as well as establish a working network of collaboration.

A host of producers will be attending, showcasing a range of locally made goods from food and drink, to soap and coffee cups. Trade industry guests from different sectors have been encouraged to connect with the exhibitors and find out more about how they can source products closer to home and support businesses within the same local economy.

The event is being held in partnership between Wrexham Enterprise Hub and Fair Events Management, which also runs the Wrexham Food Festival.

Samantha Harris, Head of Supply at Fair Events Management said: “Shopping locally and from small businesses has become widely adopted amongst the public when it comes to buying gifts, food and homeware on a consumer level, but we want to see this same trend mirrored in the commercial sector.

“The impact of businesses ordering produce on a regular basis across long distances is huge and, as we all consider our responsibility to live more sustainably, many companies will be looking to make changes.

“We’re proud to be running the first event of its kind in Wrexham which will allow businesses to meet face-to-face with local manufacturers who may be able to offer what they need much closer than their current suppliers, and generally learn more about what’s on offer in the area.

“It’s a great chance to informally discuss, network and learn more about the benefits of keeping Wrexham money within Wrexham – hopefully, it will offer food for thought to those businesses who haven’t considered this yet.”

Carl Turner, Community Director for Town Square Spaces Ltd (TownSq) which operates the Wrexham Enterprise Hub said: “It’s fantastic to be working alongside valued hub members from Fair Events Management, who, in the planning of the expo, have perfectly encapsulated our ethos of business-to-business collaboration and playing an active role in boosting the local economy.

“We’re committed to supporting businesses big and small, so it’s an honour to be hosting so many at this event and giving them a chance to showcase their produce in a way we haven’t seen in Wrexham before.

“We all have a part we can play in forging a more collaborative local trade community and there is so much to be learned from one another, so we warmly welcome all businesses and industry members to come along and find out a bit more about how you can work more closely with your Wrexham-based peers.

Wrexham Producers’ Expo will be held at Wrexham Enterprise Hub on Rhosddu Road on Wednesday 11th May at 11:00 until 15:00.
