Cardiff-based Yolk Recruitment has appointed a head of its newly-created finance and accountancy division to service demand from its existing client base.

Merle Howells, 32, joins the award-winning business as part of Yolk’s ambitious growth strategy, with the firm on course to solidify its position as Wales’ market-leading recruitment agency by 2020.

Originally from Cheltenham, Ms Howells has over 12 years’ experience in the recruitment industry, gained with brands such as Adecco. She will be heading up the new finance and accountancy division, managing a growing team alongside developing the strategy for Yolk’s offer in the fast-growing finance sector.

The new appointment is announced as Yolk celebrates a decade in business, which the firm has marked by unveiling a refreshed brand identity and website. The company also recently launched executive search business, City Executive Search, which saw founders Dale Williams and Duncan Powell join forces with recruitment powerhouse, Mike Lee.

The new Finance and Accountancy division adds to the growing Yolk offering which spans sectors including legal, sales, IT, marketing, office support and engineering.

Commenting on her appointment, Ms Howells said:

“Yolk is an exceedingly driven business and very well thought of in the market so I am delighted to be part of the team. I am passionate about placing people into roles where they can flourish and progress, and I thrive on helping people take the next step in their career.

Finance is a dynamic and fast-growing sector, and roles in this field are becoming much more strategic than the day-to-day number crunching commonly associated with finance positions. As such, it’s an exciting profession to be focusing on and I look forward to growing this division by ensuring we provide the very best talent and excellent service.”

Commenting on Ms Howells’ appointment, Yolk co-founder and CEO Dale Williams said:

“Merle joins our fast-growing business at a very important time. Following on from the success of last year, we are celebrating ten years of repeated growth, and have a clear strategy in place to grow our service offering and turnover.

“Merle brings invaluable experience to the role and I am confident she will develop our new finance and accountancy division to its full potential, servicing existing client demand in tandem with opening new client accounts. We are looking forward to Merle playing a key part in growing our customer base and achieving our ultimate goal of reshaping recruitment”.
