You can now book an Uber and ride with your pet

Following the lockdown pet boom, Uber has launched it’s brand new of-fur, Uber Pet, allowing you to sniff out an Uber that your furry friend can ride in worry-free

Following successful trials across Europe, it will now be paw-ssible to bring your animal sidekick to ride alongside you with the same Uber comfort that we all know and love. The new service is being launched as an in-app offering allowing riders to select an additional surcharge that lets their pets join the ride.

Selecting the Uber Pet option will notify the driver that there will be a pet riding alongside. The launch of the new service is the latest way in which Uber is going to new lengths to support riders and make life more convenient for all users and their pets.

To celebrate the Uber Pet launching in the UK, Uber will be partnering with All Dogs Matter and donating £1 from each Uber Pet trip to the charity to help more dogs and cats find their forever home.

Adorable four-legged friends from All Dogs Matter were some of the lucky first pets to take a ride using the new service, with a selection of dogs em-bark-ing on an adventure around London in an Uber Pet vehicle testing the service.

Next time you’re making plans to go for a long afternoon walk, visit your local pooch-friendly pub or even introducing your colleagues to your furry friend after two years of them making surprise guest appearances on Zoom.

The launch of Uber Pet will not affect Uber’s service animal policy, riders with service animals should request their Uber ride as usual.

    How Uber Pet works

    • Uber Pet will be available from April 26th, as a separate product in the Uber app. Simply request the Uber Pet product to be matched with a driver who is eligible and willing to transport you and your furry family member.
    • At launch Uber Pet trips will attract a £3.20 surcharge in London and a £2 surcharge outside of the capital.
    • If you’re travelling with a service animal, there’s no need to select UberPet and you should continue to select your regular Uber option.

Andrew Brem, General Manager at Uber UK said “We’re really happy to be launching Uber Pet in the UK, bringing even more convenient travel options to our riders. With COVID 19 restrictions lifted it’s the perfect time for new pets to get out and about again with you, no matter what your plans.

Ira Moss, General Manager, All Dogs Matter said “Uber Pet is a really exciting new service offered by Uber, being able to guarantee that your dog is able to ride alongside you in an Uber. Receiving £1 from each Uber Pet trip in April will make a huge difference to us as a charity and we’re really pleased to be involved with the new service.”
