Young people from Denbighshire’s Youth Council have met with senior council leaders to share their vision for the future and highlight the issues that matter most to them.

Members of the Youth Council recently visited council offices in Ruthin, where they met with Helen White to discuss their work, achievements and ambitions for young people across the county.

During the visit, Youth Council representatives showcased their work to date, including engaging with hundreds of young people, collaborating across North Wales and delivering innovative projects such as podcasts and digital events designed to amplify youth voices.

The group also outlined their priorities moving forward, with a focus on strengthening youth participation in decision-making, improving communication with young people and supporting the development of a new Youth Strategy.

Discussions highlighted the importance of ensuring young people’s voices are central to key areas including regeneration, transport, health services and democratic engagement. Members also asked how they could support the Chief Executive and the wider council in their ongoing work.

    Helen White, Chief Executive said:

“It was a real privilege to meet with members of the Youth Council and hear first-hand about their work and ambitions. They are an inspiring group of young people, full of energy, insight and ideas. Their passion for making a difference in their communities is clear, and they are already demonstrating the qualities of future leaders. We are committed to continuing to work closely with them to help shape the Denbighshire we all want to see.”

The Youth Council also emphasised their desire to work closely with senior leaders and elected members to ensure young people’s perspectives are embedded in decision-making processes.

The visit marks another step in strengthening the relationship between the Youth Council and the council’s leadership, supporting a shared ambition to empower young people and build a more inclusive future for Denbighshire.
