YouTube’s Gonth shows off his three-storey home in Cardiff

YouTube star Daniel Gonthier says his new three-storey home in Cardiff is one of the best purchases he’s ever made.

After spending the last few years renting two and three-bedroom flats in the city, the 26-year-old decided to invest in his first home in November last year – a four-bedroom Southcott housetype at Bellway’s St Lythans Park in Culverhouse Cross.

    The unique three-floor set-up accommodates Daniel’s work-from-home career perfectly.

Daniel loves the design and uses the middle floor of his home as an office, where he spends lots of time filming and editing videos. His job involves creating YouTube videos, including lifestyle ‘vlogs’ and Fifa online videos and he has 1.7 million subscribers to his YouTube channel, where he’s known as Gonth.

On the top floor, there’s a master-bedroom which Daniel says is his favourite room of the house due to its carefully designed features and spacious layout.

Daniel said: “Everything has been really good so far. I’m having a great experience living here, and there have been no problems at all with the process or the home. It’s all gone really well.

“I found out about the development on Rightmove, and liked it straight away as it’s a nice, quiet and private estate, which is based on the edge of Cardiff.

“The reason I decided to move was for investment purposes and to escape rental, but as well I just wanted to live in a new build. They’re ideal for customising and I’ve been able to choose all my preferences.”

Daniel was one of 1,849 people who used Help to Buy Wales during the last financial year to secure a new home.

He said: “The scheme is definitely worth taking advantage of, as all you need is just a five per cent deposit! It’s a great boost towards a very important life purchase.

“It just made sense to go down the route I did, and I’m glad I did because it’s one of the best purchases I’ve made!”
