Fifteen community groups across Rhondda Cynon Taf have been awarded a total of £86,170.50 through the UK Government’s Pride in Place Impact Fund to improve local buildings, sports facilities and community spaces.
The awards form part of a £1.5m Pride in Place Impact Fund allocation for the county borough. The fund was launched in May 2026 to support short-term projects responding to local priorities, with a focus on community and public spaces and on town centres and high streets.
According to the council, projects range from kitchen refurbishments and building improvements to renewable energy installations, sports facility upgrades and community growing schemes.
Councillor Bob Harris, Cabinet Member for Communities, Culture & Leisure, said: “I am delighted that 15 community groups across Rhondda Cynon Taf have been awarded funding through the Pride in Place Impact Fund, helping them make improvements to the facilities and spaces that are so important to local residents.”

“This funding will deliver practical improvements that people will be able to see and benefit from, whether that is a refurbished kitchen, improvements to a community building, better sports facilities, renewable energy measures or new community growing spaces.”

Work is due over the coming months. The council expects many projects to finish during summer and autumn 2026, with others continuing into early 2027. All must be completed by the end of March 2027.
A full list of the organisations receiving funding will be published in due course. The council says the funding also supports its TransformingRCT campaign, which highlights investment and improvements in communities across Rhondda Cynon Taf.
