    Today the National Lottery Community Fund are spreading some good news to 121 communities across Wales receiving a share of £4.1m in its latest round of grant announcements.

    One such group is Cardiff based Golden-Oldies (aka Goldies Cymru). They successfully applied for £26,000 to continue delivering their online choir sessions online. Using different platforms, they will provide weekly shows offering people the chance to join in with songs, provide important public health information and the opportunity for themed events. The primary aim is to retain links the community have built with one another to reduce social isolation.

    Grenville Jones, founder of Goldies Cymru said;

    “We are so grateful to The National Lottery Community Fund for their support of our online GoldiesLive sessions. We introduced them last year when lockdown meant that all our live, daytime sessions had to close. From the feedback received we know that they are bringing joy and laughter through songs and smiles to many hundreds of people across Wales each Tuesday and Thursday with Rachel and Cheryl. Everyone can join just go to www.goldieslive.com at any time.”

    Ruth Bates, Interim Director Wales at The National Lottery Community Fund, said:

    “Thanks to National Lottery players, communities across Wales have made an incredible impact, supporting each other over this difficult period. As we cautiously look to the future, we know people will continue to make a positive difference to each other’s lives, thanks to the wonderful support provided by the groups funded this month.”

    National Lottery players raise £30 million each week for good causes throughout the UK.
