Indoor and outdoor group activities will start to take place again at hubs and libraries across the city from next week.

Covid-safe face-to-face events and activities will be reintroduced from Monday, May 24 on a phased basis, in line with Welsh Government guidance.

The increase of services will include outdoor and indoor community events, recreational activities and groups for children.  Events to support residents’ health and wellbeing, such as Dementia Cafes, gardening groups, social coffee mornings & sporting memories sessions will also recommence.

Information about all the activities and sessions will be available on the Hub Events website at www.cardiffhubs.co.uk and anyone wishing to attend events will need to pre-book their place beforehand by calling the Adviceline on 029 2087 1071 or emailing [email protected]

Cabinet Member for Housing and Communities, Cllr Lynda Thorne, said: “Our Hubs and Libraries service has done a tremendous job delivering essential services to customers over the past 14 months and now, as restrictions are easing and more services across the city are being reintroduced, we are really pleased to be in a position to offer face to face activities and events for customers once again.

“Digital services and ways of keeping people connected have been invaluable throughout the pandemic and we will still keep using these methods, but we know for many, there is no substitute for face to face interaction and we hope that people’s health and wellbeing will receive a boost by taking part in our community activities once again.”

Volunteering opportunities, which provide and excellent pathway into work and can improve people’s health and wellbeing, will be reintroduced within Council services via a phased approach this summer starting with digital inclusion volunteering in Central Library Hub next month and expanding to more services as appropriate.
