A family cared for by City Hospice during a difficult chapter in their lives is supporting the charity’s new Forever Flowers campaign.
Forever Flowers provides the public with a rare opportunity to remember cherished family members, friends and loved ones. A unique and lasting tribute, supporters are invited to purchase a limited-edition flower which will feature in a striking display at Cardiff Castle from Saturday July 24 to Sunday August 8.
Rebecca Bullen and daughter Ffion, 4, are supporting Forever Flowers to help City Hospice following the loss of husband and dad Carl in June 2019.
Carl was sadly diagnosed with cancer in August 2018 and was cared for by City Hospice in his last few months.
Rebecca said: “City Hospice cared for my husband, Ffion’s dad, in the last couple of months of his illness in 2019. The nurses that visited us listened to both of our worries and provided my husband with medication and aids to help keep him comfortable.”
Grateful for the care Carl received during his illness, the family wanted to raise awareness of the work of the hospice and vital funds so that others with terminal or life limiting illnesses can receive the same excellent care.
In addition to caring for up to 550 patients at any one time, City Hospice also provides essential counselling and support services for families, which the family are very grateful for.
Rebecca added: “I was put in touch with the charity’s counselling team to discuss how to help our daughter, who was just 2 at the time, with advice on how to speak to her about her dad. It is very comforting to know that the services that City Hospice offer are there for us both over the years ahead.
“Forever Flowers is a special campaign to be involved with and we look forward to seeing the beautiful display at Cardiff Castle in July, after which we will have our own Forever Flower in our garden to remember a wonderful husband and dad.”
The Forever Flowers campaign is not the first show of support for the charity by the Bullen family. Last April, Ffion entered the 2.6 challenge in aid of City Hospice and raised over £600 by scooting around her garden 26 times.

“The funds raised by this campaign will not only help fund essential care for our patients but also enable our support services for families to continue so that people like Rebecca and Ffion can still access it in the future, whenever they need it.”
