Visitors to Aberavon Beach now have a further cashless payment option available at the car parks on the popular seafront which allows motorists to pay for their visit using smartphones instead of having to search for change to put into machines.

The cashless parking option is to be rolled out to car parks across Neath Port Talbot. Those who want to continue paying by cash or card can still do so.

MiPermit supplies services to parking operators that enable cashless payments and ticketless parking. This means that locations supported by MiPermit can offer customers the ability to pay by credit or debit card, as well as reducing waste by not requiring a paper ticket to be displayed.

When you pay for your parking through MiPermit, your vehicle details are synchronised with the patrolling enforcement officers’ hand-held computers in real-time, so when the officer sees you are not displaying a paper ticket or permit, they check their hand-held and will find your vehicle has a valid stay attached to it.

Using a cashless service is fast, convenient and easy to manage. You can arrange your parking by telephone, SMS from your mobile via MiPermit smartphone apps or online using a MiPermit portal. Drivers can visit the MiPermit website at www.secure.mipermit.com .

Customers can also visit the online portal at wanttopark.com/npt

(customers who use this service will incur a 10p convenience fee which will be added to the cost of parking).

Also, the council has experienced considerable vandalism to pay machines which has caused inconvenience for users of our car parks over recent months. The move to cashless payment options will help overcome this.

For help with cashless parking call 0345 520 7007.
