Street Food Cinema, the delicious drive-in, returns to Cardiff next month promising the full fright-night experience, with a spooky pre-show and a huge fancy dress competition – which even includes the car!

Coinciding with half term week – Monday 25th to Sunday 31st October – the film line-up has been designed with afternoon and early evening performances for the whole family followed by two late-night frighteners in the evening for teens and adults.

On the bill are family favourites like Casper, Coco, Ghostbusters and Coraline, classics like Jaws, Beetlejuice and The Lost Boys, late night scares from A Nightmare on Elm Street, Silence of the Lambs. Newer releases include 2020’s Host and Disney’s latest Cruella.

Street food on offer includes some well known faces from the local scene like Swansea’s Smoking Griddle Burgers and The Bearded Taco’s Californian fusion tacos, alongside visiting vans Bare Bones Pizza and Big Apple Hot Dogs. Recent Cardiff start-up Oh My Shakes is bringing dessert.

Food and drinks are ordered via phone and delivered straight to the car window by roller-skating zombie usherettes.

Cinema snacks to go with the food include Bobo’s Soda Bus, retro sweet boxes, Joe’s Ice Cream and popcorn.

The Street Food Cinema comes from the creative team behind Street Food Circus. Circus ringleader Matt ‘the Hat’ Lawton said:

“We’re going all out this year to give people the full halloween experience – from roller-skating zombies to a £250 cash prize for the winners of our fancy dress competition. We’ve got something for the whole family to enjoy and make the most of half term – films for all ages, a great Halloween experience and the best street food around. Plus we’re under cover so we’re weather-proof and all our ordering is online so you do everything from the comfort of your own car.

“It’s been amazing being able to tour around Wales this summer, but we can’t wait to be back in Splott, where it all started,” he said.

Street Food Cinema is at Splott Market, Cardiff from Monday 25 October to Sunday 31 October with Street Food Traders appearing on rotation throughout the run. Tickets cost £25 per car (plus booking fee).
