The University of Wales Trinity Saint David introduces a new popular voice pathway within its BMus Vocal Performance programme for the next academic year.
Building on the success of the vocal programmes at the Wales Academy of Voice & Dramatic Arts, the newly devised BMus (Hons) Vocal Performance is a specialist industry-focussed programme designed specifically for singers. This exciting new programme is based in the vibrant city of Cardiff and delivered by experts of national and international repute. The specific focus on ‘voice’ has enabled WAVDA to design a programme shaped purely around the demands of the vocal performance industry, embracing the diversity of the discipline and creating a unique opportunity for singers. Students will be offered extensive 1-to-1 vocal tuition, and masterclasses from world-renowned artists, and of course all of this will be located within our specialist facility in Cardiff.
Vocal performance is a complex discipline that brings together a host of skills from across the performing arts; this programme embraces that and aims to equip students to be versatile and adaptable performers.
Key aspects of learning on the BMus Vocal Performance course includes vocal technique and the study of repertoire, stagecraft, music theory, recording, vocal health, the creative industries and numerous performance opportunities. Each year students will be involved in a larger-scale intensive performance project working with industry experts to deliver a public performance.
The staff at the Wales Academy of Voice & Dramatic Arts are looking forward for students to enrol on this new degree pathway, which enriches the portfolio of programmes within WAVDA and the opportunities for undergraduate students. David Bebbington, Academy Manager and Programme Director said:

This programme will offer students opportunity to focus specifically on Vocal Performance with a programme designed solely for singers, embracing the multifaceted nature of the discipline itself, and of the industry”.

Based on our enviable reputation within this vocal domain, the new programme will provide progression opportunities for our students on to postgraduate study or as practitioners in the sector.”
It is anticipated that graduates of the Vocal Performance programme will commence careers as performers, creators, teachers, recording artists and within various other related disciplines. The BMus (Hons) Vocal Performance may also lead to further postgraduate study.
