Swansea Building Society tackles beach clean

Employees from Swansea Building Society recently headed to one of Gower’s most loved beaches to complete a beach clean, in a bid to help maintain the local environment and make a difference to the community.

Organised by the Mumbles branch manager Tony Rees, the team from Swansea Building Society spent the day at Three Cliffs Bay on Friday 13 July picking up litter from the beach. With assistance from the National Trust, which supplied all the litter picking kit needed, the Society’s team were able to clear a substantial amount of litter from the beach and help maintain the bay’s natural environment.

Tony Rees, Mumbles branch manager at Swansea Building Society, said:

“Having spent most of my childhood weekends down at Three Cliffs, it was a natural choice for the beach clean. With the aid of my fellow Society members, it gave us a chance as a local building society to improve a popular beach in the area so that it can be enjoyed to its full potential this summer.”

Alun Williams, chief executive of Swansea Building Society, added:

“The beach clean forms part of our corporate social responsibility initiative and shows our dedication to giving something back to the community and local area. We are lucky to have such beautiful surroundings on our doorstep and it is important that we maintain the beauty of Gower. Being a part of the beach clean was very rewarding and it was great to have so many of our staff at the Society join in.”
