Some of the biggest names in English cricket will go in to bat with Gowerton Cricket Club in a star studded PCA England Masters Xl match – the first such event in Wales.

Captained by Ashes star, Andy Caddick, the PCA Masters XI sees a team of former England cricketers, including Owais Shah, Alex Tudor, and local heroes Simon Jones and Matthew Maynard, play against a fearless team of Gowerton Cricketers – who of course hope that the dragon will triumph over St George on the day!

Cricket lovers are due to flock to the 20-20 match, on Friday 17th August, for which Welsh law firm JCP Solicitors – a long-standing supporter of cricket in the community – is a Gold Sponsor.

[/aoa]JCP Director and stalwart of Gowerton Cricket Club, Keith Thomas, says: “This Masters XI event is a real coup for the club and for the wider South Wales area, seeing some of the biggest names from English cricket taking the field here at Gowerton. Gowerton Cricket Club has been a proud part of the sporting landscape since the late 1800s, lifting the Haig Village Cup at Lords in 1975. The Club is proud of its history and its deep roots within the local community and I’m very pleased we are able to bring this event to the region. I would encourage spectators, supporters and potential sponsors to get involved so they can be part of this event which will be talked about for some years to come.

“I am particularly pleased that we have been able to bring this exciting event to fruition to help inspire our very gifted youth section at Gowerton, which sees more than 100 youngsters hone their skills at junior training every week throughout the summer. We are also keen supporters of girls’ cricket and a number of our young women have gone on to represent Wales.”

Other local sponsors of the event are Willis Legal, Personal Financial Planning, Mason Brothers, Towergate Insurance and Ironmongery Direct. To get involved in the event as a Silver Partner sponsor, or to attend on the day, contact: [email protected] or telephone 01792 525578.
